Here's some of the highlights: - Northbrook's Championship Hockey Teams - Scott Gardner's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was terrific. - The welcoming remarks by Rick Hanetho, the new Executive Director of the Park District. - The ceremonial first pitch to officially begin the 2008 season thrown out by Brian Kennedy. - The appearance and remarks from David Kaplan, one of Chicago's most popular sports broadcasters. - The Home Run Derby, especially the tie breaker competition between Pony Leaguers George McCurdy and Jason Scholl. They put on quite a home run hitting exhibition. Special "THANKS" to the Park District for doing an outstanding job of getting all of the fields playable. In spite of the heavy rains the night before, every game was played! Photos of the Special Guests and the Home Run Derby winners can be found in the Opening Day link in the left column. |
